King’s Stanley’s offer of early help: Early Help Offer
At King’s Stanley Primary School, we know that families can sometimes need a little extra support. Early Help is about providing that support as soon as a difficulty begins, rather than waiting for a situation to become more serious.
Early Help can be offered at any stage of a child’s life and can support an individual child, a parent or the whole family. The aim is always to help children feel safe, happy and able to thrive both at home and at school.
Families may need support for many different reasons. These might include:
-
difficulties with attendance or getting into school regularly;
-
changes or challenges within family life;
-
behaviour or emotional wellbeing;
-
parenting support;
-
financial worries or housing difficulties;
-
bereavement or family illness;
-
relationships and family breakdown;
-
concerns about a child’s development or additional needs.
Sometimes a family may simply need someone to talk to and help work out what support would be most useful.
How we can help at King’s Stanley
We aim to work closely with families and offer support at the earliest possible stage. This might include support from your child’s class teacher, our SEND team, our attendance team, our Family Support Worker or a member of the school’s safeguarding team.
Where appropriate, we can also help families access support from other services within Gloucestershire.
Support is always planned with the family wherever possible. We will listen to your concerns, consider what is already working well and agree together what further help may be useful.
Early Help may include:
-
regular meetings with school;
-
help with attendance or routines;
-
parenting advice and support;
-
support with emotional wellbeing;
-
referrals or signposting to other services;
-
help coordinating support when several services are involved;
-
an Early Help assessment and support plan where this would be beneficial.
Why Early Help matters
Getting the right help early can prevent smaller concerns becoming more difficult to manage. It can improve a child’s wellbeing, relationships, attendance and learning, while also helping families feel more confident and supported.
At King’s Stanley, asking for help is seen as a positive step. If you feel that your child or family may benefit from some additional support, please speak to your child’s class teacher or contact the school office. We will help you work out the next steps.
